Although it probably seems as though I've fallen off the planet, I'm still here. I've been hard at work writing two projects, Mortal, and Dreamwalker: Abattoir. While Mortal is my Nano book, I did not, unfortunately hit the 50,000 word count. Sad face here. Still, I am happy to say, I'm almost a third of the way finished with it, and I really like the direction the story. I think it's going to be a fun story, but I will say the angels in this story are a bit different from those in Sojourner, probably because this world is a bit darker.
As far as the last Dreamwalker novel, I'm over halfway finished with the first draft and I'm currently in the middle of a dragon attack on our world. Yes, you read that right. Dragons. You didn't think Elijah would go quietly, did you? After all, Misha did just banish him from Alturna.
And I know there are many of you wondering about the Sojourner world. Yes, the manuscript for Conduit is finished. I'm hoping to work on the editing process soon, and with any luck, I'll have the first chapter finalized as a Christmas present for my wonderful readers in addition to the first chapter of another novel--The Whispers. So check back and see what I'm posting.
And if you want to see character inspirations and quotes from my novels, don't forget to check my Pinterest pages. I try to create one for each novel, and there's several up for projects I'm toying with before I actually start writing.
Currently, I'm writing the first draft of the last Dreamwalker novel. Thanks to Claudia McKinney, aka Phatpuppy Art, and The Font Diva, I now have the ebook cover to display. It's actually my favorite of the three covers. And if you check back tomorrow, I'll have the new cover and blurb up for my NanoWriMo project next month.
It's no secret that the end of April and May are hectic for teachers, and unfortunately, it's been really hampering what I get done as far as writing. Although I am still working on the next Sojourner book, I have had a lot of people asking me when I'm going to wrap up the last book in the Dreamwalker series. At this point the novel is outlined and ready to be written so I've decided that once I've finished with my current novel, I'll start to work on that one. Perhaps at some point soon I can nail down a final cover. Until then, here's the two finished novels just in case you haven't seen them yet.
I figure it's about time for a post about my writing progress since things have been so hectic. So here it comes.
Right now I'm on the downhill slide of finishing my current work-in-progress. It's a science fiction/women's fiction novel titled Surrogate
. At present, I'm probably just at about 20,000 words from completing it, and I'm really hoping to have the first draft off to the editor by November 1st for a late December/early January release.I also have the edits back on a paranormal romance called A Willing Sacrifice. This time around, I'm looking at changes in the story, so I didn't want to start on that until I finish Surrogate. Unfortunately, November is also looming, and that means NaNoWriMo is coming up faster than I expected. For those of you who aren't familiar with NaNoWriMo, it's an annual event in November where writers try to complete a work of 50,000 words in 30 days. Last year I did finish over 50,000 words of Skunks, Trunks, & Pedro. This year, I'm toying between two projects: Dreamwalker Abattoir, Dreamer, and Witness. So, here's where you, my readers, come in to help me figure out what November is going to be about. I'm putting up a poll on the home page with these two choices. Help me figure out which novel you really want to read first, and I'll write it. Of course, you do have to vote here, because I'm a lousy mind reader, and at the end of October, I'll look at the poll, and that will be my next novel.
I'm going to put up links to the two different novel pages to look at the choices. And if you like the cover art for Witness and Dreamer, you really should check out Claudia McKinney (otherwise known by her company name: Phatpuppy Art. Her page is at http://phatpuppyart.com/. You won't be sorry. Just don't blame me if you never want to leave her page....
Lots of different projects going on right now. First of all, I'm currently about a fourth of the way through Surrogate
. I'm still hoping for a December or earlier release, but I'm guessing I'll have to play that one by ear. As far as what's coming down the pike to be released next, I have the complete edits for Skunks, Trunks, & Pedro
, and since I've found a cover image to go with the book, I'll be working on those edits soon to release it this month. My editor is currently working through my paranormal romance A Willing Sacrifice
, and I'm hoping to get that one out next month. I know I said I'd never write a vampire novel, but the idea I came up with intrigued me too much. Currently, you can see a cover image for A Willing Sacrifice on my novels page, but Najla Qamber
is currently working on a design I came up with, and considering what I've seen of Naj's work, I'm really excited. After
I finish the first draft of Surrogate, I'll be working on a novel inspired by the book and movie Atonement. It's called December Rose, and the stunning cover is courtesy of Naj, as well. I just got the cover for Dreamer, a young adult paranormal I'm going to be writing. This one is from Claudia at Phatpuppy Art.I've also just released the e-book version of Dreamwalker: Reckoning
, and it's currently available at Amazon and Barnesandnoble.com. I've ordered the proof for the print copy, and hopefully I'll be approving that soon.
And I think that pretty much covers what's going on over here. Hopefully everyone is having a safe and festive Independence Day tomorrow!
Currently, this is the project I am editing. I have to say that I really didn't expect this series to get as complicated as it has, which is part of what seemed to take me forever to get the second book written. Currently, I'm about a fifth of a way through the novel as far as editing, and I'm hoping to get the blurb done soon.
If you've been waiting for this title, please accept my thanks for your patience. I've put up a Word file which can be downloaded so you can get a preview before the novel has been released. You can access the file with the link below. Enjoy!Dreamwalker: Reckoning
Lately, I've had lots of people asking me about the second book in the Dreamwalker series. I think it was probably that cliffhanger ending that did it. At any rate, I started working on the second novel in the series earlier this month, and I hope to have the novel completed and edited by June. Right now I'm about fifty pages in.There will be three novels in the series, and I'm sure that most of you have noticed the evolving cover art. Right now I am waiting on my faithful cover artist Ronnell Porter
to complete cover art for all three novels. I have high expectations, and he's given me an idea what he's working on. If you look at the other covers of my books, you can easily spot his work in the Sojourner books, among others. I can tell you that when the art comes, it will definitely have been worth the wait!
