Katie Jones, daughter of a respected doctor and a math professor, was supposed to follow her older sisters in prestigious professional careers. But this free spirited teen forges her own path and in the process falls in love with art, music, and a boy named Chase.

After two years in New York, Katie returns to North Carolina to care for her ill father.  She has left behind a failed music career and needs a fresh start.  But starting over is never easy, especially not with a mother who has never approved of her and life that seems without direction.  It’s only when Katie begins working for a psychiatric hospital she finds what truly matters: Chase.  But this isn’t the Chase Katie grew up with.  This Chase has been shattered by unbelievable cruelty, and in order for Katie to restore her own life, she must first help restore Chase.
