A very strong beginning really grabbed my attention and the characters were well done. Diana still struggles with the pain of her sister's suicide years many years ago, but when she is reunited with her during a near death experience, she discovers she is the only one who can stop the spirit of a serial killer who managed to return from the River and is now controlling the minds of other to commit unspeakable acts of violence. Although sometimes it seemed like Diana and her husband rushed from one harrowing experience to another with no chance to catch their breath, it did keep up the suspense and the anticipation of what would happen next. Diana has to make several visits to the River as she tries to figure out how to stop a major catastrophe and deal with more pain and anguish in her own life as the serial killer gets closer and closer. On one visit, she is taken to the Source, who gives her healing and the ultimate gift that gives her the strength she needs to make things right in the world again. There were a few typographical errors but not very many and the suspenseful action and flow of the story made these easy to overlook. --Stacy L. Daniels I love the characters that Maria Hooley creates! The River is scary, loving, spiritual all combined into a wonderfully written story that's hard to put down. There were twists that I didn't see coming. The returned serial killer gave me chills. You can feel the love between Diana and her husband. Another fantastic read by Maria Hooley. --L.T. |
