If life had gone according to plan, Bastian Connelly would be vice-president of Connelly Oil.  Kaylee Renard would be just another socialite who dabbled in fine art.  But life isn’t about plans, at least not the ones we make.  Bastian, disowned and disillusioned, is on better terms with his .38 than his future, and Kaylee, faced with a tumor that money can’t cure, grapples with her own mortality.  One night their paths cross as Kaylee stumbles off a bridge into icy water.  Bastian dives in after her, unsure if he’s really trying to save her life or end his own, but it never occurs to him that he might be the one who needs to be saved.
